Steve Jobs Pledges "MobileMe Will Get Better"

There's another email "apparently" from Steve Jobs floating around. This time, he's answering a question about MobileMe from a user who described it as "almost unusable". MobileMe is the Apple subscription service that lets you sync contacts, calendar and stuff across your desktop, laptop, iPhone or iPad. It also gives you storage space and push email. It costs a staggering £59/$99 a year. Staggering because Google offers much the same service for nothing. Here's the "apparent" email exchange: Q : I love my iPad and iPhone4 and am a huge fan of yours and all that Apple does. I desperately want to stay inside of Apple'e ecosystem as much as possible. Real Evidence The iPad Is Clobbering Netbooks

DigiTimes in Taiwan is reporting that Asus is cutting its future shipping forcasts for its Eee PC netbooks - because of competition from Apple's iPad. It follows second-quarter sales figures lower than expected. The company's CEO Jerry Shen says sales fell short of expectations mainly due to competition from the iPad. He says Asus will continue in the notebook and netbook market, but will also take on apple with a new tablet device. (Source: DigiTimes )

First Look At The New iPods: Touch, Nano And Shuffle

Apple's new iPod Nano has shrunk into a touchscreen square. It has a 3cm by 3cm screen and a clip on the back. Gone is the video camera - in fact there is no camera at all. The Nano comes in seven colours and should be available to buy next week. You can order it now in the Apple webstore and shipping is 7-10 days. The 8GB version is £129 and the 16GB is £159. The new iPod Touch is much as expected. It has a hi-res Retina display and front and rear cameras for FaceTime video-calling. And it's thinner than its predecessor. Again, it will be on sale next week at £189 for 6GB, £249 for 16GB, and £329 for 32GB. And let's not forget the new iPod Shuffle. It's tiny and Apple has brought back the click-wheel control. Apparently people didn't like using just voice control, so the new model has both. It's 2GB and will cost £39.
