Apple "Has Solution For iPhone 4 Signal Issues"

It seems Apple may be about to come up with a solution for the "dropped signal" problem of the new iPhone 4.

And it seems the fix will come in an iOS4 software upgrade - possibly as early as Monday.

It's now widely accepted that the device has a major flaw: it loses network signal if you touch the metal antenna/bezel on the bottom left side of the phone.

Steve Jobs famously emailed a complainer telling them they were holding the phone the wrong way.

That was quickly followed by an official Apple statement:

Gripping any phone will result in some attenuation of its antenna performance, with certain places being worse than others depending on the placement of the antennas. This is a fact of life for every wireless phone. If you ever experience this on your iPhone 4, avoid gripping it in the lower left corner in a way that covers both sides of the black strip in the metal band, or simply use one of many available cases.

Well, Steve has been emailing again.  This time he simply told a customer that there are no reception

issues and to "stay tuned".

Insiders say Apple has discovered that the problem can be solved with an update to the iOS4 software on the

iPhone 4 and this will be released very quickly. So, iOS4.0.1 on Monday. Well, abviously NOT

Monday...perhaps Tuesday...or....

It's thought this could also be one of the reasons hackers are holding back on releasing a jailbreak for the new

device.  They want to wait until iOS4.0.1 is out to make sure the jailbreak still works.
