iPhone iOS4 Problems - 3G Running Slow

Some people who've updated their iPhones to the new iOS4 Apple software are reporting problems.

A major one seems to be users with 3G (as opposed to the newer 3GS) phones have noticed sluggishness.  Not the users - even though they may have been up all night updating - but the phones.  They say the overall performance of their devices has slowed down.

Apple were aware that 3G phones aren't really up to handling iOS4 and have disabled some functions - like multitasking and wallpapers - for those devices.

If you're finding your 3G unacceptably slow, try restoring your phone in iTunes as a new phone, and don't restore from a back-up.  It's a bit of a pain because you have to then re-sync all your apps, music etc, but it might speed it up a bit.

If course, if that fails to improve perfornamce, tell Apple: call on 0800 048 0408 or go into an Apple Shop after making an appointment with one of their special breed of oh-so-helpful geeks called Geniuses.

You never know, if enough people complain and Apple concede the 3G isn't up to iOS4, they may have to swap them for 3GSs.  Just a thought.

Other problems being reported with ALL iPhones are:
Photos in the Photo App becoming blurred
Push notifications failing
MMS not working
Problems with 3G data connections

If this is you - whether you're using a 3G or a 3GS - try this: Go to Settings > General > Reset Network Settings.

You then have to get your correct settings back on the phone. This is usually done if you sync with iTunes.  You may be asked to download Carrier Settings - click Yes.

You'll also have to set up your remembered WiFi networks again.
