The paper's Digits blog says it's managed to get a response out of Apple's press office. "Apple is aware of the reports and is looking into the matter", it quotes a spokeswoman as saying. So at least Apple is now acknowledging the issue.

The complaints have been widely reported on iPhone blogs and forums and have sparked Apple advert parodies:

Unconfirmed reports say Apple will address the issue in the forthcoming iOS4.1 upgrade.
