Reuters is reporting that RIM will unveil a new touchscreen Blackberry next week.The Blackberry 9800 will be launched at a joint news conference with AT&T in New York on Tuesday.
RIM shares rose on the news. Analysts say it's a good time for Blackberry to take on the iPhone 4, which has been plagued with launch problems including the antennagate issue and supply shortages.
Blackberry has recently lost out to Apple in top-end smartphones, while maintaining a good share of the market in lower-end devices.
The Blackberry 9800 is expected to feature a new operating system and a slide-out keyboard.
