Blackberry Torch Launch #Fail

I like Blackberry phones. They're quirky and a bit cumbersome, but they have personality. And RIM's desktop syncing software is a learning-curve to behold.

Last week, RIM launched its new flagship Blackberry, the Torch with its touchscreen, slide-down keyboard and new updated software.

This is the phone that RIM really hopes will reverse its downward sales spiral and halt the inroads Apple's iPhone have made into the traditional Blackberry market.

But figures reported by Electronista show a pretty dismal launch for the Torch.

It says RIM sold just 150,000 Torch devices during the weekend launch period. It's only on sale so far in the United States, but these figures are not good. And this, coupled with bad reviews, does not look good for RIM.

It could be that the Blackberry's major market - business people - just aren't early adopters. But still, this looks like another nail in the coffin for the once great Blackberry. RIP.
