It's looking increasingly like Apple's new iTV and Google TV are both poised to launch at about the same time. And that could be as early as the middle of September.
Both companies are, not surprisingly, keeping their plans secret.
It's thought Google TV will release a set-top box with hard-disk recording space.
Apple could come out with a box and a 40" TV with box built in.
It's known both companies are in detailed talks with TV stations and movie-makers to try to secure deals for streaming services. And word has it that the content producers aren't running to the board table to sign up. So content offerings could be pretty thin when the services start.
The UK television broadcaster ITV has also made it known it's not happy with Apple using the iTV name and ha s made it clear it could threaten legal actions.
