Steve Jobs Promises Software Update Will Speed Up iPhone 3G

While the release of iOS4 for the iPhone gave us new features like multi-tasking, it's been a major problem for owners of the old iPhone 3G.

For a start, most of the new features of the operating system are disabled for the 3G and, worse, users have found the update slows their phones down to a crawl.

A couple of weeks ago, Apple acknowledged this problem and said it was investigating.

Now, a user has sent an email to Apple boss Steve Jobs complaining about the problem, and Stevie has replied:

"Software update coming soon.

Sent from my iPhone"

While the reply doesn't categorically say the problem will be sorted, it does back up reports that the next software update, iOS4.1, does indeed make the iPhone 3G run faster.
