Vodafone UK Gets Its Finger Out And Updates Android on HTC Desire

Apple started the trend of making a Big Thing of device software updates. And it worked...users look forward to updating their devices with new features.

Other manufacturers are slowly picking up the Apple lead and are marketing software updates as part of the whole user experience.

Google's Android operating system has made a Big Thing of its latest incarnation, Android 2.2 otherwise known as Froyo.

It started pumping it out to non-branded devices a few weeks ago. The trouble has always been branded devices. It's taken network operators sometimes months to approve manufacturer software updates...and add their own very annoying branding.

It seems like those days could be nearing an end.

Vodafone UK has stuck by its word and has today released Android 2.2 for its flagship HTC Desire devices. And without heavy Vodafone branding.

You'll have to download it on your device in Settings...but at least it's there and not *too* long after HTC released it for unbranded Desires.
