Apple "Prepares To Take Digital Newspaper World By Storm"

The Daily Telegraph is reporting that Apple is working on a new iPad app - to let users download digital newspapers.

It'll be similar to its iBooks app and is likely to be called - surprise, surprise - iNewspapers.

It would clear up something of a mess that publishers have found themselves in since the launch of the iPad.

Some newspapers have produced their own apps for their digital versions but methods of subscription vary. In fact, some are free. And it's known Apple want to standardise the subscription method and, of course, their their own cut.

Negotiations are said to be continuing with several publishers, who are "balking" at Apple's demand for a 30% share.

It's reported the new app will be standalone - like iBooks - and users will be able to subscribe to publication within the app and download the iPaper directly on to their device.

It's thought it will be launched initially in the United States before being rolled out worldwide. But one thing's for sure, Apple will want to get the app up and running before a slew of other tablet devices hit the stores.
