iOS Shoots Up To Third Most Used For Web Browsing

Apple's iOS mobile device software is now the third most used for web browsing in the world, according to NetMarketShare.

It's even overtaken Linux.

These figures are for all web browsing, not just on mobile devices.

The leading browser is still Internet Explorer, followed by Mac OSX.

Then comes iOS with 1.06% of all web traffic in July.  It might not sound much in the great scheme of things, but it's steadily increasing and at the moment is confined to iPhones, iPod Touches and iPads.

In fifth place is Google's Android software - again showing a steady rise and again confined to mobile devices.

In July, iOS overtook Linux, which is a significant development for a comparatively new web browsing system.

If the projections keep going, and Apple keeps selling millions of devices a year, the time could come when it's rivalling Internet Explorer and OSX.
