Samsung Galaxy Tab Set For UK Launch In October

Samsung have officially unveiled their Galaxy Tab, which many believe will prove to be a real rival to Apple's iPad.

The Galaxy is a 7-inch touchscreen tablet running Google's latest Android 2.2 operating system.

People who've played with it like it and say it works at least as well as the iPad and is more pocketable because it's smaller.

It also has two cameras, front and back, for video-calling and can make phone calls.  It's got WiFi, 3G and has easily expandable memory with a card-slot.

A big unknown at the moment is the price.  An iPad with similar specs will set you back more than £500. If Samsung can get the Galaxy on the market for £350, they'll have a winner.

Update: We now know that Vodafone UK will be selling the Samsung Galaxy Tab at launch. It's website has a new page dedicated to the device where you can register your interest and be notified of a launch date. At the moment it's "coming soon".
