iPhone Outlook Sync Issue: Duplicate Contacts

OK. You've updated your iPhone software to the latest iOS4.1 and you sync with Outlook using iTunes.

Many users are reporting they then get duplicate contacts on their iPhone....and they won't go away no matter what you do. And duplicates can even be created in Outlook.

Well, here's a work-around, until Apple sort it out and update iTunes.

Delete duplicates in Outlook.

Create a new contacts sub-folder in Outlook.

Copy and paste your contacts from your main folder, into the newly-created sub-folder.

Now sync your iPhone with the newly-created contacts sub-folder, ticking "contacts" box in the "Replace information on this iPhone" in iTunes Info Advanced section.

It should sync ok with no duplicates.

Any suggestions if your contacts are all on Yahoo!? I have the same problem and cannot delete the duplicates even trying the Contacts check box in iTunes under Replace information on this iPhone. This does not work either.
Thanks for your shared thoughts. Great help also. I have encountered the same problem before, all my gmail contacts were duplicated when I have it synced. and I found this useful tool called Scrubly Duplicate Contacts Remover It is very simple process. It scans your contact folders and look for duplicate contacts. It will remove or merge them automatically. They even have a back up so I can have the original copy just in case.

Hope this helps.Thanks
