Vodafone "Goes Into Subsidised iPad Battle"

It looks like UK mobile network Vodafone will soon start selling iPads for as little as £200...if you sign up to a data contract.

It's thought Orange and T-Mobile already have plans to do the same. And all three networks want to get iPads into their stores before Christmas.

The Vodafone scheme will involve customers taking out an 18-month contract, which could cost up to £25 a month.

The cost of out-of-contract iPads starts at £529, with higher spec models costing £699.

The other major UK network, O2, has ruled itself out of the iPad contract war saying it will not be stocking the device but will continue to offer pay-as-you-go data SIM cards.
