Vodafone UK is introducing new mobile data tariffs for customers travelling abroad in Europe.
From December 1, the telco will charge £2 a day for 25MB of data. You'll have arrange the bolt-on before you go abroad and you'll be able to use any of Vodafone's roaming partner networks.
Monthly customers on contracts of more than £40-a-month will get the 25MB as a free add-on, and customers on contracts less than £40 will be able to buy the add-on for an extra £10 a month.
It's not surprising Vodafone is doing this. For years, customers have complained of huge unexpected bills after holidays abroad. And roaming tariffs kept changing: the current Voda tariff is £1 per megabite.
The European Commission has been investigating mobile network roaming charges and has made it clear there could be new rules to cut the cost.
