Apple "Explains Why WikiLeaks App Was Pulled"

The website Business Insider says it's had a reply from Apple over why it pulled the WikiLeaks app from the App Store.

It seems Cupertino was worried about the information in the app putting lives in danger.  Business Insider quotes an Apple representative:

"We removed WikiLeaks because it violated developer guidelines. An app must comply with all local laws. It may not put an individual or target group in harms way."

Basically, all the app did was relay the WikiLeaks website and its cache of leaked secret memos.  These memos have been reported widely by the Press. So why doesn't Apple ban all newspaper apps on the iPhone and iPad.

They have carried exactly the same information as the WikiLeaks app.
