Skype Apologises For Major Outage


Millions of people worldwide have been hit by a major technical fault with the Skype internet telephone and instant messaging service.

The company's last widespread outage was in 2007.

It says it brought in teams of engineers to investigate the latest problem which affected users trying to log-in to the service. "We apologise to any user who has been unable to use out service", said a spokesman. the fault has been detected and work is continuing to put things right.

At peak time, Skype has 25-million users.
