The UK newspaper, The Independent, has just updated its free iPhone app...and the only change is a splash-screen to let us know it's planning a new improved app.
Unfortunately, it doesn't say what improvements there will be...or whether the new app will be on subscription. But my betting is it won't be free any more.
The Guardian newspaper launched a new iPhone app a couple of days ago, introducing subscriptions of £2.99 for six months or £3.99 for a year.
The current Independent app has been free - if badly designed - since it was launched. And you can get it here in the Apple App Store.
