Netgear Boss Attacks Steve Jobs' "Ego"

There's been increasing speculation in the tech industry that Steve Jobs will not be returning to Apple.

He's on medical leave with no return date given.

The latest to take aim at what's perceived as Apple's vulnerable state - ot kick someone when they're down - is Global Chairman and CEO of Netgear, the home networking giant.
In an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald, Patrick Lo criticises Apple's "closed" policy of keeping tight control on its products. All Apple software can only be used on Apple hardware. All official iDevice apps must go through Apple's strict approval process before being sold in the official App Store with Apple taking its 30% cut.

Lo says Apple will have to change or it will be overtaken by Google's Android operating system and he blames Steve Jobs' "ego" for keeping it closed:

"Once Steve Jobs goes away, which is probably not far away, then Apple will have to make a strategic decision on whether to open up the platform.
"Ultimately a closed system just can't go that far ... If they continue to close it and let Android continue to creep up then it's pretty difficult as I see it."
