iDesigner Jonathan Ive To Leave Apple?

British-born Jonathan Ive is the Apple designer behind the iconic iPod, iPhone and iPad. But it's now reported there could be a parting of the ways.

The Sunday Times says Ives wants to return to Britain with his wife and two children and commute to Cupertino. But Apple is refusing to agree and says he must stay in the US.

Ive is coming to the end of a three-year-deal with Apple that will net him more than £18-million and negotiations are underway for a new contract.

The designer, who studied at Newcastle Polytechnic, is credited with giving Apple products their minimalist sleek looks. One design critic described the iPhone 4 as "pricey as a phone, but cheap as sculpture".
