Lonely Planet Launches Audio Walking Tours Of London iPhone Apps

Now this is a good idea. Lonely Planet is launching a series of audio walking tour guides as iPhone apps. And first out is London.

There are five apps which take you on walking tours of Covent Garden, Spitalfields, The West End, The City and the South Bank.

Each one is billed as a "half-day stroll" and, in fact, cover a larger area than indicated by the titles.

Lonely Planet says the aim is to "point out places and points of interest that you'd otherwise miss" and the tour is illustrated with photos and audio from the BBC archives.

The apps are launched at half-price: each one is £1.19/$1.99.  Here's a link to the Covent Garden tour in the Apple App Store.  To find the apps, search the app store for "Lonely Planet walking guide".
