New Apple Data Centre To Go Live In Spring

It's been somewhat shrouded in mystery, but now we know a little more. An Apple shareholders meeting has been told a massive new Apple data centre in North Carolina is set to go live in Spring and will handle iTunes, MobileMe among other things.

The site is 500,000 square feet and security is tight. It's double the size of Apple's current data centre in California.

No more details were given to shareholders, but it now seems certain the centre will be used to handle cloud-based services. These will probably include music and video storage and wireless syncing of address books and calendars.
