The hugely popular iOS notifications app Boxcar now has a version for Mac desktops and laptops.
It works in much the same way as the iPhone version, you can choose which notifications your want - Twitter, Facebook, Email, RSS feeds to name a few - and a detailed notification will appear on your desktop when you receive a new message.
Boxcar for Mac is still in beta testing phase, but you can download it here.
