Amazon has turned up the heat on iTunes by cutting the price of best selling music tracks in its US download store.
It's selling them for 69c - with many of the cut-price tracks costing $1.29 in iTunes.
Apple has about 70% of the digital music download market and last year increased its prices with popular tracks going up from 99c to $1.29. Amazon has found it hard to get above its current 10% share.
But Amazon is now aggressively chasing a bigger slice: last month it rolled out a cloud-music player service in the US, giving free on-line storage. The move beat Apple and Google which are both planning similar services.
