Apple "Buys iCloud.com Name For $4.5M"

It's reported that Apple has paid about $4.5-million to buy iCloud.com web domain name in readiness to launch a cloud-based music locker service.

Gigaom says it's had a tip that Apple has bought the domain from a Swedish company, Xcerion, which has stopped using the name and moved over to CloudMe.com.  And for the reported $4.5-million, who can blame them.

It's known Apple wants to move iTunes into cloud storage, so users can access their music collections anywhere there's an internet connection and it's reported to be in talks with record labels.
