German Authorities Demand iPhone "Secret Tracking" Answers

Pressure is mounting on Apple to say something about the revelation that the iPhone and 3G iPad collect users locations and store them in an operating system file.

The German authorities are now demanding answers. The data protection authority for the state of Bavaria says Apple has until May 10 to respond.

Germany has some of the strictest privacy laws in the world.

The discovery of the "secret" file has sparked a storm of protest, but so far Apple has refused to comment.

If you're worried about the iPhone/iPad tracking and you have a jailbroken device, there's an app in the Cydia app store called Trackered, which will automatically wipe your location data.
