Nokia To Shed 7,000 Jobs Worldwide

Nokia is to axe 7,000 jobs from its worldwide operations, including 700 in the UK.

Of that total, 3,000 employees will be transferred to outsourcing group Accenture, which will take over development of the Symbian smartphone operating system software.

It comes after Nokia confirmed an alliance with Microsoft, which will see Nokia smartphones loaded with Microsoft's new Windows Phone 7 software.
