The white iPhone 4 - released today by Apple - can be jailbroken untethered.
New owners have tweeted that the current Redsn0w jailbreak method works, indicating there's no change in the iOS software and baseband loaded onto the devices. Other than the colour, the white and black devices are exactly the same.
The white model is released nearly a year behind schedule because of "manufacturing problems". It's thought the white casing initially affected the working of the phone's proximity sensor among other things.
Steve Jobs has indicated that refining the device also helped Apple release a white version of the iPad 2 along with a black version earlier this year.
