Amazon Takes On Apple With Mac App Store

Amazon is really taking the gloves off these days.  It's now launched an on-line Mac App Store in the US to take on Apple's similar offering.

The Amazon store may not be as large as Apple's at the moment and may not be as fully integrated into OS X, but it's got some large offerings.

For example, it's got Microsoft Office Home and Student 2011 for $115.  Apple doesn't have Office software in its app store.

Amazon has already opened an on-line app store for Android smartphone, taking on Google's Android Market.
