Apple "Begins Refunding Angry Final Cut Pro Customers"

Here's something Apple doesn't do very often - quickly admit a mistake.

Recently, Cupertino released an update to its Final Cut Pro X video-editing software for Macs.  But it soon became obvious the new version wasn't up to scratch.

Customers complained that support had been dropped for older file types, functions were difficult to find and generally the software was more difficult to use.  And most left a one-star rating in the Mac App Store.

TNW is reporting that Apple is now offering refunds to some customers and it quotes emails to customers from Apple Support:

“...I understand that you are not satisfied with the app “Final Cut Pro”. I can certainly appreciate you would like a refund, and I would be more than happy to help you out with this today. In five to seven business days, a credit of £179.99 should be posted to the credit card that appears on the receipt for that purchase.
Please note that this is a one time exception because the iTunes Terms and Conditions state that all sales are final.”
It seems not everyone who's complained is getting refund emails yet, but that could be because Support has been overwhelmed.  TNW reports the best way seems to be to complain that the app doesn't function as expected.

A discussion among angry customers has sprung up on Apple Support Forums.
