Facebook "Is Planning To By-Pass Apple App Store with Web App"

It's reported that Facebook is developing an iOS web app for iPhone and iPad so it can by-pass Apple's strict rules governing App Store products.

Forbes says the Facebook plan is called Project Spartan:
Rather than adhering to Apple’s tight control over iOS, Facebook has turned to the Internet, rather than the App Store. Because Facebook’s platform will be web-based, Apple cannot implement the rules it has for developers creating apps for its devices. The Internet, on the other hand, has no governing body and few rules companies must follow, allowing Facebook more freedom in its project.
The Financial Times has already unveiled a web app for the iPhone and iPad that allows it to by-pass the App Store and Apple's 30% share of sales.

Earlier today it was reported that Facebook is planning to launch its first iPad app.
