iCloud Could Bring In Extra $1.5b A Year

A survey just released predicts up to 150-million users will sign up with Apple's new free iCloud music storage service when it launches in the autumn.

The study was carried out by analysts RBC Capital Markets. It asked 1,500 iPhone owners how likely they are to join iCloud and 76% are either very or somewhat likely to sign up.

They were also asked if they'd sign up for iTunes Match - which will cost $24.99 a year to include non-iTunes purchased music in iCloud - and 30% said they would. That's 60-million users and an extra $1.5-billion in revenue with Apple getting a reported 30% and the rest going to record labels and publishers.
