iPhone Gets Japanese Earthquake Alert

iPhone users in Japan will get the option of receiving earthquake early warnings.

The feature will be in the notifications section and will be included in the iOS5 update due this autumn.

The notifications will rely on information from Japan's sophisticated early-warning system, which collects data from more than 1,000 sensors.

Japanese-made mobile phones are compelled by law to include the technology, but many foreign-manufactured devices fail to support it.
