That chain of caffeine drug dens, Starbucks, is now serving up free iPhone and iPad apps, in the US anyway.
It's been doing "Pick of the Week" free iTunes music tracks for some time. And now when you get to checkout, you can pick up vouchers for free Apple App Store apps as well.
The first voucher is for Shazam Encore music recognition app. It costs $5.99 in the App Store, but with a code on the voucher, it's a free download...much better freeness than tunes, which normally go for $1.30.
We don't know if the free apps will alternate with the free tunes, or run alongside. The future weeks will tell....
