Apple Wins Permanent Ban On Samsung Tablet Sales In Germany

Apple has won a permanent legal ban on sales of the Samsung Galaxy 10.1 tablet computer in Germany.

A court in Dusseldorf has ruled that the Samsung device looks too much like the iPad. It backed Apple's claim that Samsung copied the iPad.
"The court is of the opinion that Apple's minimalistic design isn't the only technical solution to make a tablet computer, other designs are possible," Presiding Judge Johanna Brueckner-Hoffman said in the verdict. "For the informed customer there remains the predominant overall impression that the device looks" like the design Apple has officially filed for ownership of in Europe.
It means the German division of Samsung can't sell the device in Germany, or anywhere else for that matter.   It's an important decision for Apple, which is trying to get the Galaxy tablet banned in multiple countries.

Samsung, for its part, says it will appeal against the decision.
