Not much of a surprise, but Apple has confirmed it will be holding a launch event for the iPhone 5 (and possibly iPhone 4S) on Tuesday, October 4.
Invitations are being sent out and, in a break from tradition, the event is being held at Apple's Cupertino HQ and not in San Francisco. It'll start at 10am California time, that's 5pm UK time.
It's thought the new iPhone could go on sale almost immediately in the US and a week later in other countries including the UK.
Apple is also expected to announce the launch date for its new iOS 5 operating system for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
