Newspaper And Magazine Publishers Back Kindle Fire, But Will They Snub Apple?

Magazine publisher Conde Nast has announced it will have 17 titles ready for subscription on Amazon's Kindle Fire tablet when it goes on sale in November.

They include Vanity Fair, Vogue, GQ, Wired and The New Yorker.

What's more all the titles will have a two-month free subscription trial. Most will then cost - in the US anyway where the Fire will be launched first - $19.99 a year.

Publishers will love the Fire. It's a neat, touchscreen, colour device that should show their wares off well on its 7" screen and its Android operating system.

But more importantly, they'll get all the profits from the subscriptions. Apple automatically takes a 30% cut of its App Store subscriptions.
