Apple Awarded "Slide To Unlock" Patent

Let battle commence.  Apple has been awarded a patent in the US for its slide-to-unlock touchscreen technology used on the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

The company first applied for the patent in 2009 and it has wide implications.

The patent is fairly vague and seems to cover any method of swiping a touchscreen to unlock - just like those methods used by Android and Windows mobile devices.

So prepare yourselves for a lot more Apple-led court cases claiming their technology has been copied by...err....virtually everyone.

The awarding of the patent can be challenged...and we expect that to happen as well.
