HP Denies It's Planning Gruesome Bloody Death For webOS

There's a smartphone operating system called webOS that we think is extremely good, as you'll know if you've read us banging on about it on this blog.

It was invented by Palm, which was bought by HP. But now HP has abandoned manufacturing smartphones and tablets using the OS because, well, it couldn't compete against the Apple iPhone and iPad.

It still owns webOS and still pays the workers in the old Palm division to develop it.

A few days ago, the UK newspaper, The Guardian, reported that HP was planning to kill off the webOS division, but now HP boss Todd Bradley (that's him in the photo above) has turned up on Bloomberg TV to deny the report, saying the company is now "focussing on how to effectively utilise that phenomenal software".

For "appear on Bloomberg TV" read: desperately have free TV time to advertise that webOS is up for sale.

Come on HTC. Why not?
