TfL Plans WiFi Hotspots In 120 Underground Stations For Olympics

Transport for London says it's planning to install WiFi hotspots in 120 underground stations in time for the Olympic Games in July.

That's out of a total of 270 stations.

And it won't be free.

Well, it will be free to access "real-time travel information, news, sport and entertainment", but there'll be a fee if you want to use it for anything else.

It's the nearest the London Underground has come to having WiFi access. There've been plans, but all have fallen by the wayside.

It's reported the latest scheme is out for tender.

But there are still no plans for a mobile network so you can make calls and text. A scheme for that was discarded last year.
