Apple Plans Huge New Data Centre

Apple is planning to build another huge data centre, this time in Prineville, Oregon, US. A local TV station, which has seen the planning documents, says Apple is paying $5.6m for 160-acres of land.

Apparently the deal was sealed on the day the Oregon Senate passed a bill giving substantial tax breaks for companies that set up...surprise, surprise...data centres in the state.

Last year, Apple opened a massive centre in North Carolina, which, it's believed, houses the iCloud servers. It's thought the Oregon facility may become home to Apple's Siri voice recognition system.
