Confirmation that Apple will hold a media event on March 7 to announce the next-generation iPad has pushed the company's market value to nearly $500bn. That's nearly half a trillion dollars.
At the close of trading in New York, its market capitalisation was $498bn. Exxon Mobile Corporation was next most valuable at $411bn.
