News International Steps Up Fight To Lure Times And Sunday Times Subscribers From Apple

News International is stepping up the fight to persuade iOS Times and Sunday Times readers to hand their subscription cash straight to the company and by-pass the App Store, where 30% goes to Apple as well as those valuable mailing list details.

A few days ago, we reported NI figures showing a sharp rise in iOS app readers for the two UK papers. And the fairly subtle ads trying to wrest subscriptions away from Apple to the papers' websites.

The latest ads are not so subtle. NI points out subscribers can save £75 a year if they shun the Apple App Store.

Publishers are still angry that Apple insists on taking a third of customers money and keep subscribers' email addresses and other details.
