We're always on the look out for improvements and here's a free app for jailbroken iPhones that could help.
SpeakEvents enables the iPhone to speak emails, SMS texts and iMessages as well as notifications.
It can also speak low-battery warnings and even the time every hour.
It works on all iPhones running iOS5 and above. And you can set a "quiet period" when it's silenced.
We haven't actually tried the app, but if it works well it could be very useful for a lot of people.
SpeakEvents is now live in the Cydia app store on jailbroken devices.
