Eau De MacBook: The Fragrance Of An Apple Unboxing

French perfume makers have recreated the smell of an Apple product being unboxed - a heady mixture of plastic wrapping, cardboard, printing ink and, of course, the brand new hardware.

Seriously. It's been done. The smell of a new MacBook Pro laptop to be precise.

The organisers of an art exhibition in Melbourne, Australia, which opens today, wanted the scent to accompany their show and got in touch with the manufacturer of a fragrance diffuser, Air Aroma.
"To replicate the smell a brand new unopened Apple was sent to our fragrance lab in France. From there, professional perfume makers used the scents they observed unboxing the new Apple computer to source fragrance samples. On completion the laptop was sent back to Australia, travelling nearly 50,000kms and returned to our clients together with scent of an Apple Macbook Pro".
You're out of luck if you fancy spraying on some Eau de MacBook for a night out, though. The mixture is only for the exhibition and is not for sale.

Yet.
