Apple Fined £1.45m In Australia Over iPad 3 "Deliberately Misleading" 4G Claim

Apple has been fined £1.45m by a federal court in Australia over advertising claims that the new iPad 3 has super-fast 4G data capability.

In fact, the device is only compatible with 4G networks in North America.

The judge described the claims as "deliberately" misleading and also ordered Apple to pay nearly £200,000 in costs.

In March, Apple started to offer refunds to customers in Australia who felt they had been mislead and the company has now dropped the 4G claim on packaging and marketing materials worldwide.
