Bet that made you sit up and take notice. Stock markets are getting delirious with excitement on rumours that the South Korean electronics giant Samsung wants to take over the ailing Scandinavian phone-maker Nokia.
In fact (and this is the only fact connected with the story), Nokia shares jumped 6% on the speculation on Friday.
The trouble is...it just doesn't make sense.
Samsung is flying with its Galaxy range of smartphones and has become the iPhone's main competitor. With HTC losing the design plot, Samsung is now king of the Android OS. So why would it want to buy or merge or anything else for that matter with Nokia, which is fighting for survival by pinning its future on the Windows Phone OS?
