OS X Mountain Lion comes loaded with various voices for dictation and Text To Speech, but for English there's only American.
If you click the top-right Apple symbol, then System Preferences, then Dictation & Speech, then Text To Speech...you see a voice chooser. Open the drop-down and click Customise. You'll then be able to choose to download more voices including UK English.
Bit off a flaff, but there you go.
