Samsung Pulls Ahead Of Apple As "World's Leading Smartphone Maker"



Samsung is now ahead of Apple as the world's leading smartphone manufacturer, according to a Reuters poll.

The news agency polled 41 industry analysts to produce the figures which show Samsung is expected to have sold 50m smartphones in the quarter to June 2012, with Apple's forecast sales of iPhones at 30.5m.

Samsung and Apple have been neck-and-neck for the past several quarters.

The reason is the release of the new Samsung Galaxy S3 to a worldwide advertising campaign.

The sales figures for Apple's nine-month-old iPhone 4S are slowing as consumers wait for the expected iPhone 5 in the autumn.
