The Apple-Samsung Verdict: What Happens Now...

So Apple has been awarded damages of more than $1bn from Samsung. A jury in California decided Samsung DID copy Apple's iPhone and iPad with its Galaxy series of smartphones and tablets. But what happens now?

Well, the court will reconvene on September 30 to argue injunctions. That's where Apple could argue for sales bans on Samsung products in the US. Most of the patent infringements cover older Galaxy devices, but many are still on sale.

We also expect appeals...from both sides. Samsung will certainly appeal against the jury's decision and the amount of damages awarded. And Apple could appeal as well: it was asking for damages of up to $3.5bn and might decide to push further.

It's not over yet.
